I’m bringing back one of my favorite nail designs from last winter on Instagram, deer head and buffalo check nail art, as it was never posted here. This time I’m sharing just a little bit more info on how you could recreate this look on your own nails. Keep reading to get the deets and be sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post!
The Buffalo Check
The plaid look is a lot easier to achieve than you might expect at first glance. I started out by using a small detail brush to do a grid of tiny little dots. From there, I filled in the squares, taking care to leave white space around each. Using the same detail brush, I painted thin diagonals in between each green square. When you’re done, you’re left with white squares in the untouched space. Pro tip: If they don’t look as crisp and square as you’d like, use a clean brush to gently add another layer of white polish to clean up the edges.
The Deer Head
When painting the deer head, I searched for a silhouette image that I wanted to use for inspiration. Then I carefully tried to mimic the general shape with my small detail brush. The trick with this one is that I didn’t actually paint the deer
For this look, I used a forest green creme polish with a micro shimmer from Julep called Krystle. Julep doesn’t sell this shade anymore so I’ve rounded up a handful of similar shades.
If you aren’t into hand-painting your nail art, here are a few tools that can help you achieve this deer head and buffalo check nail art. There are stamping plates for the buffalo plaid and decals for the deer heads.
