Summer is the season of birthday parties for Avery’s friend circle and more often than not, they’re outdoors. When picking out what to wear to these shindigs, I have two things in mind: beating the heat and being able to move with my kid.
This particular ensemble started with the embroidered eyelet girlfriend jeans. The cropped length (not to mention the literal holes) will allow me to move and maybe get a little dirty without making me too hot. The feminine eyelet detail led me to step into my knotted bow slides and a peplum top. Lastly, I grabbed my big lemon-print tote which could fit all of my essentials plus Avery’s essentials, like the diaper clutch, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
For Avery, I chose a pair of embroidered bermuda shorts for her so that she could keep cool, but her legs would be covered no matter if she was sitting on a wooden bench or a hot slide. I took a nod from my outfit and selected an eyelet top for her with a sheer floral kimono on top. Lastly, we put on her fringed sandals that we scooped up on Poshmark. We love how the straps across the ankle and the foot open all the way to make it really easy to get on as well as customize the fit. This particular style is sold out, but you can see a newer style of sandal that opens up the same way here.
